VICIOUS CYCLES INC. TO BUILD A CUSTOM MOTORCYCLE TO BENEFIT BREAST CANCER
(Lemoyne, PA --- 10.18.08)
Greg Carter owner of Vicious Cycles in Lemoyne, PA was approached by an individual to build a custom project bike to benefit Breast Cancer. Shortly after it appeared the individuals commitment to the bike deteriorated but not Greg Carters. For the past two years Greg’s commitment to raising money for this breast cancer bike became his own project and “Customs For A Cure” was born.
Vicious Cycles has built an antique style Harley Davidson motorcycle with a side car. A custom motorcycle with modern technology and reliability using a 1200cc Harley Davidson sportster motor with an aftermarket antique chassis and fiberglass side car. Brian Krehling of BK Rodz of Middletown, PA contributed the paint scheme incorporating the pink breast cancer awareness ribbon into the graphic treatment.
Through fund raising events, private donations and the generosity of motorcycling manufacturers, the bike is now complete. Vicious Cycles, Inc. will be selling 100 raffle tickets for $250 a piece with the raffle proceeds going to The Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition and The Tricia Luxenburg Memorial Scholarship.
Grand Prize the 2008 Customs For A Cure Project Bike, 1st Place $1,000, 2nd Place $500 and 3rd Place $250. In addition to the four major prizes there will be additional prizes awarded from local businesses.
100% of the bikes proceeds will benefit two breast cancer organizations: the Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Organization and the Tricia Luxenburg Memorial Scholarship. Once all one hundred (100) tickets have been sold ticket holders will be notified 30 days prior to the drawing.
The Pennsylvania Breast Cancer Coalition has been the voice for breast cancer survivors for over 10 years in Pennsylvania. They are a 501(c) non-profit organization with a full time staff of 7. Their activities are geared toward education, outreach and advocacy.
The Tricia Luxenburg Memorial Scholarship Fund was established in September 2006 in memory of Tricia who lost her battle with breast cancer in May of 2006 at the age of 32. Tricia learned of her cancer during her pregnancy with her fourth child, Lauren. Tricia told her husband Mitch that she didn’t want her memory dedicated to the disease that took her life. So Mitch established the “Tricia Luxenburg Memorial Scholarship Fund” to raise money to be given to students who wish to get an education in teaching. Tricia left behind her husband Mitch and four children.
